… run for office until you are blue in the face.
Any mention of Alan Keyes brings me back to the 2000 election when there was a GOP debate held at my college. Though I was unable to secure a ticket to the event (read: not a registered Republican) I remember watching the event on TV, listening to Mr. Keyes describe the AIDS pandemic in terms of a crisis of sexual morality. Ah, the world was such a simple place back then. That’s probably why I voted for Ralph Nader.

On the other end (sort of) of that spectrum is this guy. Andrew and I were going to film a documentary on him. But then we lost our youthful idealism and earnestness and got married.

I also vaguely remember Alan Keyes running for president in 2000- I also remember a political science professor I respected essentially endorsing him. Then when he ran against Obama I was sure I’d remembered it wrong. However, once I found out that a fellow alum was coordinating Keyes’ 2004 campaign for Chicago I remembered there’s a lot of freaks at Wheaton.
